Nathan went to a total of 5 parties this Halloween! Holy Popular Batman! So, there are a couple more parties to report before moving on to actual Halloween :)
First was a birthday/Halloween party for one of his soccer teammates. He was so excited to see his best buddy there too!
He was equally excited to the the pinata. He knows all about those! You hit and hit until candy comes out :)
The hanger broke before the candy got out, so a brave daddy spilled it to the begging toddlers :)
Hannah steered clear of the pandaemonium, but decided to borrow Haidyn's hat for a quick pose on the swings!
The boys had a blast playing, eating candy and cake together, and eventually sat almost comatose together on the floor. This is usually mom's hint to get outta there before the melt-down point arrives :) so we did!
The next project we had was to try painting out pumpkins, again!
Nathan decided to paint on paper until I tested out the pumpkin situation.
But once I started painting pumpkins he wanted to add to the one he painted at his party! (And so he did).
Such a handsome painting job!
Here's Hannah's baby pumpkin:
This was my best effort at painting a vampire. I googled for pictures, but had to improvise because the all looked to scary :)
Hannah mostly just sat in her high chair and ate noodles (or noon-els as she says it) watching the artistic explosion!
We decided on a castle theme for our trunk decorations this year (since our costumes all coordinated so nicely!) But since it was Halloween, we made it a Haunted castle (by adding some webs and putting our ghost and vampire pumpkins in front of it).
You can see the glossy coat on Nathan's pumpkin- thus the reason the pumpkin painting at his party had complications!
Jeremy just carved the other sprayed pumpkin, so he had a nice and shiny jack-o-lantern! Hannah was a fan :) ..more on the trunk decor later- first: another party!
Nathan was invited to a Monster Hunt at a fellow Sunbeam's house. When we first read the invite, that explained that there was a monster at his friend's house that had stolen all the candy and he needed help finding him, I asked Nathan if he wanted to help. He looked terrified, and the casually said, "Um, no. Not really."
After some convincing that the monster was pretend and that it was just a game at a party, he consented to go!

Next they all made webs with yarn and paper plates- so cute!
...Tossing eyeballs... always a thrill :)
As you can see, their house was seriously decked out! I had to sneak in a picture of the Halloween tree!
Next up- painting monsters!
Nathan took this task very seriously!
For those of you who haven't seen these- Oreo spiders!
They also had to go fishing in a witches brew for more clues and some goodies too :)

Making a line for the "pin the eye-patch on the pirate" proved more difficult than expected :) But alas, we did it!
The blindfold was...problematic.. at best- but the kids were mostly honest about not peeking! Good job Nathan!
The kids got to keep their eyepatches, too!
At this point, we were close to recovering the candy, so the kids were riveted!
Their last task to get to the monster was to get passed the large spider web guarding his door :)

Coming back with a bag of loot made leaving the web intact a little more tricky!

After the party we got to stay and play with our new friends- Nathan's favorite part :)
Hannah was just happy to watch their dogs out the window.
Now, Halloween! Dress the kids, dress the trunk, dress myself, grab the candy and my camera...let's go!
I had to snap off a couple of shots of the kids in the trunk before we got too far.

Our little princess (enjoy the had while it lasts... because the princess had other ideas in mind!)
This is my absolute favorite Halloween picture! Hannah turned around and was so tickled to realize it was Nathan in that silly hat!
Now with the pumpkins....
We snagged a fellow trunk-or-treater to take a couple of pictures of all of us in our garb.

The kids LOVED trick-or-treating! Nathan was SUPER polite, and could not move on until the person heard and accepted his devout "thank you!"
Hannah even picked up the phrase "ticka-teet", and got in lots of practice with her thank you's (heard more like "dit-do" :)
Most impressively, Hannah made sure she held up her bucket to EVERYONE. Even when it started getting really heavy for her, and she was dragging it along the ground- she would put her whole back into it and get it up there to get her sweets!
(Don't worry, we emptied her bucket fairly frequently into Nathan's so it wouldn't get too heavy!)
After the trunk-or-treat we hit the neighborhood just behind the church. It was soooo cute to see the kids walk along hand in hand.
When they could see the door, Nathan would run up and Hannah would attempt to follow suit, shouting, "Go! GO! GO!!!"
But after she had gathered her loot, she always stopped to admire the decorations :) She things pumpkins are apples, and always calls them such!
After a little while they got so good they could go to the door on their own and daddy and I could wait at the sidewalk :) Look at us getting lazy in our old age!
After the kids had accumulated a healthy stash of goodies, we headed home to check-out the goods.
It was soooo cute to see the kids be so excited about their candy, and be rummaging through it like pros! Nathan would get so excited, and hold something up screaming, "Oh wow! I LOVE these!!!"
Ironically, his favorite find was a package of fruit snacks!
That about sums up our busy Halloween season. It was a good one for all of us, and now we have a load of goodies to get rid of before I eat them all!
