Our Moab Trip

ROAD TRIP! Since we were going out to Provo for my best friend's graduation we decided to make a week of it and stop off in Moab to do some camping and hiking. What a blast! The weather was a bit hot for Jeremy but I loved it-- high 80's during the day and high 50's at night. We stayed at a campsite that had warm showers and flush toilets, we had our own personal BBQ right by our tent and it was really close to the entrance of Arches National Park. Vacationing with a baby took a little getting used to, but overall Nathan did exceptionally well and we got in a good amount of hiking. Thank goodness for baby sunscreen... 70+ SPF! I've compiled a few of the photos and video clips into a short video (surprise!...hey, it's a fun hobby.) As well as posting a few of my personal favorites.

I love how you can tell it's an "arm's length" family portrait by looking at the reflection in our sunglasses... that's kinda funny.

This was probably one of my favorites. Nathan was so intrigued by the rocks and mountains that he could see and touch because it was all new to him. Cool to watch him learn about this world.

Is that a happy camper or what? Soaking up the sunshine did us all some good :)

This was my favorite hike, the Delicate Arch. It was pretty steep and a workout for sure but well worth it. Plus, while we were at the top enjoying the view we were one of the only people up there. The only other people there at one point was a couple getting engaged in the actual arch...never witness somebody get engaged besides myself!

After a long day in the sun we walked the shops along the main street in Moab, in one of which Nathan tried on a hat....he doesn't know what's on his head, but I thought it was priceless!

After a short tour of Moab we made our way to Provo for the graduation festivities, which were FABULOUS :) Congrats Sharon!!!!

My personal favorite, however, was after waiting for hours to see Sharon's name read we all burst out in cheers-- Nathan, however, was just drifting off on Jeremy's lap eating happily away on his bottle when the cheering started. He lost it! He threw his bottle and terror came over his face and I made a quick break for the exit while he was taking his classic 15 second breath intake before the real screaming breaks loose. Once we made it out of the auditorium where the clapping was a dull background noise he quickly settled, but his face was unforgettable...that sad quivering lower lip that melts your heart...he's got it down.

While we were in Provo we stayed in a Hotel, where Nathan realized why go rustic when you can go luxury? He did ok with the camping, but when we gave him his own queen bed he slept for 11 straight hours..after which we had to wake him up so we could get him dressed to go!

Sunday before leaving the happy land of Utah we stopped in Ogden to have lunch with my grandmother. Nathan enjoyed meeting his Great-grandma Ard as evidence by his giggles and smiles! Who couldn't love that lady?!
