Somehow, we got put in charge of the annual ward Christmas breakfast this year...?
We decided to do a Grinch/Whoville theme! Since our ward does not really fit in our gym, and it was already busy with a singles activity, we tried the Stake Center (which is still only about 7 minutes from our house) but that gym is REALLY big!
To close it off a little bit we divided it our into 2 parts. We made the Whoville arch with a few houses and Whovillians to lead the way in to where the food and stage/eating area is.
Inside the divider we had a breakfast of cinnamon rolls, breakfast casseroles, fruit, orange juice and green milk! We had a TON of food this year (some years it runs out within 20 min!)
You can also see the 39 1/2 foot pole hanging from the roof! We wrapped most the tables in paper, with a hodge podge of round and square tables spread around the room. Each table had some book marks with a "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" decoration on the front and people wrote their testimonies on the back so the missionaries from our ward could hand them out this season.
On the outside of the Whoville we had station for the kiddos to decorate sugar cones like Christmas Trees with frosting, sprinkles and skittles!
We made 4 identical food tables in the 4 corners of the room, so everyone was able to get a plate and get seated pretty quickly. That we while everyone ate we could do a short program on the stage!
We had the Bishop narrate a shortened/modified version of the Grinch poem, a lady sing "Where are you Christmas" and the primary kids sang "Picture a Christmas" (it was PJ's/Whoville attire, thus the clothing choices!)
It turned out really cute, and our Grinch was....VERY entertaining!
(The grinch did pre-arrange with the people who he dumped food or water on, but the crowd did not know that!)
During the last number (the "Where are You Christmas?" song)
I snuck out and set up out Santa (KEN! He was the BEST Santa EVER!)
Dallin didn't even recognize him!
The Grinch also made a few cameos during picture/Santa time! It helped the line stay a little less restless :)
See the Grinch in our photo?
You can't tell, but that is Hannah behind that huge green hand!
So, when all was said and done it was a pretty fun Christmas breakfast! We love our ward family and were glad to get to celebrate this season with them in such a fun way!
Now, with that out of the way, I can relax and enjoy the rest of the season! Thank goodness we did it early in December!
