Jeremy and I went on a corporate retreat to talk through some business needs and Ken stayed with the kids overnight at the house while we were gone. Little did I know that he spends more time on pinterest than most! He did a Harry Potter themed night for the kids and they had a blast!
He brought an actual sorting hat, pretty legit!
He sorted them all into houses...except Dallin who didn't want it on his head...but got "sorted" by watching it talk to him :)
Ken also brought a Dobby dolly (love the sock he's holding!) They played a game where Ken would hide it and they would all look for it.
When that got too easy he pulled out all the stops! He had a beanie hat with 2 LED lights built into it (that while intended to be a headlamp look suspiciously like snake eyes!) that he would wear, turned out all the lights and he was the basilisk! He gave the kids little mirrors for peeking around corners and such because if they say the basilisk in the mirror they were ok, but if they looked directly at him they were petrified. So, in the dark and while avoided the basilisk they found and rescued Dobby!
What a fun grandpa!
He even brought all kinds of themed snack foods and they watched a Harry Potter movie. The kids decided that Mom and dad can leave any time if grandpa is coming!
Toward the end of the month my friend Stormi who moved away came for a visit! So, we got a few of us girls together and went for a hike with our kiddos around the Bluffs!
I'm pretty sure this was intended for tying horses to, but a jungle gym at the top of the hill works too!
Seeing as how they needed to play, we stopped at the park nearby before heading home. I got my playtime with the girls, now time for some park time!
And last, but not least, we heard from grandma that her kitties LOVE whipped cream, so we decided to give some to ours and see if they loved it too...
At first they both seemed sure it was a trap.
Rasha was leery of it, and not really a fan after a preliminary sniff.
But Charming was a fan!
Great start to they year so far! Now, can we get through the craziness we have planned for February?
