Our Father's Day this year was pretty simple, but good. We made daddy a special breakfast of all his favorites: Egg sandwich, bacon and cantaloupe.
At church, Jeremy and I teach the marriage and family relations class, and the lesson was about Children, and our role in Heavenly Father's plan as their parents. The lesson suggested that we have a primary class come and open by singing "I am a Child of God" and we decided to just have Nathan do it. He agreed, and also wrote a little message for his dad. He did such a great job reading the message he wrote and singing his song for our class- he even made his daddy cry :)
After Church, we came home and the kids "wrapped" their presents to dad and set them on the table.
Daddy was anxious to get to them, but Nathan made him play hot and cold for them.
Dad did eventually get to his presents, and LOVED them! Each of the kids picked out a rocket for him and mom filled in with all the other materials needed for a rocket launching day.
Thank you Hannah! The one she picked shoots REALLY high.
Dad was especially excited about the rocket Nathan picked. The nose cone has a helicopter in it and comes down separate from the rest of the rocket. It is also VERY big!
They spent the next little bit assembling the rockets - putting parachutes in, gluing fins on and decorating them with the enclosed stickers :)
Once that was done we made dad a steak dinner and headed out to a "farewell" gathering for some friends of ours who are leaving for a year. Everyone brought their favorite dessert, so all the daddies, as well as the kids and mommies, had ample yummies.
........
On Tuesday we went out for Launch Day! We invited another family to join us for a picnic and some rocket launching at the park so that Nathan would have a friend to chase rockets with, but that didn't stop Nathan from being at Dad's side every step of the way!
Hannah's job was to sit and look pretty :) Didn't she do a good job?!!
Each of the boys took turns pushing the button to launch the rockets and the kids would go run them down.
Hannah, however, kept getting distracted by the new-found joy of wishing weeds :)
Hey! Hannah got one! - Or at least the parachute! :)
Such good little helpers :)
These two are only about a week apart in age!
All in all, it was a great Father's Day, and Jeremy got exactly what he asked for: Time to enjoy being a dad. We are so blessed to have such a great daddy in our family and were excited to take the day to enjoy him!
