So, like every good injury story... this one starts out on a Saturday morning at the church!
We were having an article of faith party there with our primary class and the kids were all running about while things were getting organized...
Next thing I know I hear howling and screaming and look down the hallway to see at least 6 little kiddos headed my way in a state of panic, and front and center is my Levi with blood ALL OVER his face! While racing down the hallways with friends he had tripped and fallen face first onto the legs of a rolling chalkboard and cut his cheek on the metal corner.
He had a HUGE gash on his face that was gushing blood that he has smeared all over the place.. it was a pretty gory scene. After we got him calmed down and started to clean him up in an attempt to assess the damage this is what we saw:
Poof fellow. We all agreed he was in for a handful of stitches, so we handed off Nathan and Hannah to a friend for the remainder of the party, called Jamie who came and took them home after it was over and hung out with them while we took the 2 little boys off to Children's Hospital urgent care.
He was a CHAMP! They put a bunch of LET (a sort of topical anesthetic that also stops the bleeding) on his would and he got to sit and read books and watch Octonauts on dad's phone until they were ready to do a thorough rinse and stitch him up.
Six stitches later, here is our handsome guy!
Nothing a Popsicle can't make better :)
They even gave him a stuffed monkey (whom he promptly named Chase Monkey Baby). According to his wishes, Chase also got a band aid on his cheek :)
Now the stitches are out and he is on a daily regimen of Mederma with SPF in it being massaged into his scar several times every day. It is my job to keep it out of the sun for 6 months to a year!
But, we are all glad that our big brave boy is safe and sound and healing well.
Now we all know why we don't run in the church!
