Nathan's (and mine and Jeremy's ... as cub scout leaders) first Pine Wood Derby!
Here are a couple pictures of almost all the pack (missing 2 boys who were sulking about their car's performance).
I made one big trophy for the grand prize (overall fastest car) as well as a smaller trophy for each boy who participated... all of which were filled with candy!
We also had ribbons for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and participation ribbons for all.
The coveted winners cup!
Here's Levi's car, which he got to race afterwards in the free for all rounds :)
And Nathan's car!
Here's my kiddos raiding the treats :)
Here's our favorite cub master laying down the ground rules!
As people arrived they entered with a table on one side with racing flags and a game of "find the traffic sign" where they had to locate all the signs hidden around the gym. This kept lots of younger and older siblings busy for the entire pack meeting!
The cubs moved straight on to the check in table, where they could weigh in, add graphite/weight etc.
Here are all the cars checked in and ready to race!
The best part was watching Nathan be so excited, win or lose, to race his car!
His first few races he ran along side his car down the race track... til it proved to be problematic :)
(Note, he does a great job at keeping the flag from touching the ground or going all the way down!)
