Father's Day

Let's start with Father's Day!
As per our annual tradition, we planned to do rockets and dinner. Minor problem... it was raining cats and dogs all day!

But, in good faith, the boys still readied the rockets and prepared for launch.

Jason built and extra special on this year and really wanted a chance to see it fly!

The weather forcast showed about 30 min of clear coming up so we packed up and headed to the designated launch site- through the pouring rain.

We got all set up and slowly the rain turned to a drizzle and then slowed to a stop!

Needless to say, we had the place to ourselves! Nathan lined up all the prepped rockets on the ground while Jason prepared his rocket for the first launch.

Yes- when I said extra special... what I meant was... just special? If you think the fins are glued on upside-down then you are correct! And yes, he launched it at that angle....

Tori had the honors of the first launch...

The wind died down right as we launched... so sadly it continued on the trajectory you see above. Neither the special pay load or the rocket were to be seen afterwards.

Moving on!

We've gotten pretty good at retrieval, especially now that we have lots of kids who love to be runners!

Jason shot this with his phone- pretty cool!

After each rocket had flown once, almost on cue the rain returned. We packed up in a hurry and ran back to the cars! Still, it came on so hard and fast that the kids were all soaked to the bone. Luckilly, it was a warm summer rain. Once we were all soaked the need to hurry diminished and we let the kids jump in the puddles to their heart's content before heading back to the house for a yummy dinner.

So fun to honor Father's day in our traditional style and spend the day with the amazing father of our kids. We are so blessed to have you in our lives and happy to celebrate it any day!
