Look at this big boy, turning 1 already!
On his birthday we took a family day and went to the zoo and he LOVED it!
I took the chance to get his 1 year pics right there in the zoo, so be prepared for a bunch of cuteness!
These four munchkins are the best kiddos ever!
Couldn't be a luckier mom in the world :)
Say hello Denver Zoo!
The zoo has this super cool thing going on right now where they have these giant robotic dinosaurs that move and make noise throughout the zoo. I think there were 22 in all. They have them by the animals that they are the most like :0)
They move and make noise, and some of them are pretty life like!
We went to a presentation where the kids got to touch a turtle and a hedgehog, they thought that was pretty cool.
(We didn't realize til we got home that Jeremy wore an outfit that looks exactly like a zoo worker uniform!)
It was a great day at the zoo and all the animals were out and moving around!
Check out this gazelle getting a snack!
At every stop Dallin would pull up to a stand and look at the animals. The ones he found really exciting he would cheer and shout at :) So fun to see him having a great day in the zoo!
The kids caught lady bugs during our lunch picnic.
Nathan wanted a picture of his:
Penguins!
More lady bug hunting...
There was no convincing Dallin that these dinosaurs were not something he should be leary of. Anytime we were near them he would not take his eyes off of them, and if they moved he would get really tense!
Levi sure enjoyed them, though!
Mommy - birthday boy time with the flamingos!
I love that this has been at the zoo for as long as I can remember.
My kids didnn't quite get how it was supposed to work...
So I decided to show them!
(We had a few others join in the tutorial!)
Here's how we ranked:
More concern about dinosaurs:
This one actually was pretty creepy! His eyes were really twitchy, like a real bird, and he was covered in feathers that looked really life like!
Here's a better look at him:
Snack break!
Look at this smolder!
Going for dad's shades...
What, mom? You got a problem?
The Utah Raptor!
Yikes.
This was the coolest of the dinos!
Before we could see him, we could hear him, and he was hidden down a hill and in the brush so in the breeze it was a total Jurassic Park moment walking down and seeing the trees move and hearing him grunting... then there he was!
Mr. T-Rex himself
He would rear up on his hind legs and get really tall and roar. He was so well made that you could see the veins in his neck vex and his throat shakes when he roars.
Time for the climbing dinos :)
And the archaeology sand pit :)
We did his smash cake at a family party the next day:
C'mon dad... let me light my own candle!
Here we go!
Yes, daddy did help with the war paint...
Good thing we did his smash cake before heading to the pool! :)
But he wasn't too disappointed with being covered in cake!
Here's some video of his smash cake:
Dallin has been an absolute delight to have in our family. He is our jolly giant (still holding at the 98th percentile!...for context, Nathan is the 20th, Hannah is the 4th and Levi the 50th!) He weighed in at 31 lbs for his 1 year visit! (Hannah, who's birthday is 1 week earlier, weighed in at 38lbs for her 6 year visit!) He most definitely got the Wainscott genes.
He is super happy, smiley, loves to play and eat. Since learning to crawl he has become quite the explorer. He says "Ma-ma," "Da-da," "Ba-ba," "kitty," and "cookie" as well as a lot of other currently indiscernible jibberish. He LOVES to splash in any water he can find, snuggle anything soft against his face, and be help by mama.
Hard to believe our 4th and final is already 1! This little man is the best note to end on and I wouldn't trade him for the world.
Love you to pieces, Dallin!
